Our at-a-glance guide to Sheffield Hallam University

With approximately 30,000 students, Sheffield Hallam is one of the largest universities in the country, and the biggest provider of health and social care and teacher training in the UK. It's based on two campuses, one in the bustling city centre and the other out in the leafy suburbs. Investment of £115m over the past 10 years has provided the university with modern, well-equipped teaching facilities. Sheffield Hallam takes its links with business seriously and has the highest number of placement courses of any UK university. Sheffield has great facilities and good transport links. It claims to be the greenest city in England, and is within easy reach of Leeds, Manchester and the Peak District.

Fees
£3,290 for full-time undergraduates in 2010-11.

Bursaries
If you are a new student in 2010, and receive the maximum higher education maintenance grant or special support grant from the government (£2,906 for students who normally reside in England), you will qualify for the Sheffield Hallam grant bursary of £700.

If you are on a full-time undergraduate course and attended a partnership school or college in 2009-10 (or in 2008-09 if you had a gap year in 2009-10), you may be eligible to receive the Sheffield Hallam partnership bursary worth £300 payable for each taught year of undergraduate study, providing that you are paying full variable fees of £3,290.

Accommodation
Guaranteed for first-years in either university-owned, partnership or privately owned accommodation. Prices vary, but are reasonable.

Facilities
Good learning and teaching facilities, a lively student union, plentiful sports provision and one of the UK's leading universities in e-learning.

Transport
Easy to hop on a train to London, Leeds or Manchester. Good public transport in town.
